Q: How should we understand the observation of feeling/sensation only on the senses of the body and on the six senses of the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind?
A: We are born with six sense organs. Therefore, there are six sense organs. When each sense organ meets its conditioned object, each consciousness arises.
In the four foundations of mindfulness, the observation of body, feeling, mind, and dharma can be observed separately one by one, or it can be observed as a whole. In this way, the observation of the six sense organs also observes each sense organ as a single object. Many objects are constantly operating at this very moment, but we only take one object at a time, so we can only notice one object.
Since the observation of the senses of the body is revealed in a larger lump than the other organs, anyone can easily notice it first. If you become skilled at awareness through the observation of the body among the six sense organs and gain insight wisdom about it, you can try it on other sense organs as well.
Just as you observe each of the four foundations of mind one by one, and eventually reach the stage of awareness them all at once with your mind and Dhamma, you can also advance to the stage of awareness the six sense organs all at once with your mind and Dhamma itself.
I hope you start with small awareness according to your level of practice and gradually expand your awareness.
May you develop your Sati through Vipassana!
