In the last letter, we discussed the role of intention as a leader, which means that intention is the subject that leads our lives.
The reason we keep awareness at every moment can also be seen as the purpose of correcting this intention. It is no exaggeration to say that the last stage of Vipassana meditation is to observe only the mind factor of this intention. This is because observing the last moment of life through awareness, and the moment when a new life begins again, depend on that intention.
Intention is accompanied by four types of minds.
Wholesome mind
Unwholesome mind
Resultant mind
Functional mind
Wholesome or unwholesome mind accumulates as wholesome or unwholesome karma like habits.
Wholesome intention creates an appropriate resultant of behavior that leads to rebirth in a happy place later and receives a pleasant form of resultant in that life. Unwholesome intention would be the opposite.
The intention of the resultant mind or functional mind is a state that only adjusts the roles of other mind factors and does not cause or try to cause wholesome or unwholesome behavior. It does not stimulate motivation. It directs each mind factor to perform its role so that it can perform its function.
May a good heart be developed through right awareness (Samma-Sati), right effort (Samma-Vayama), and moderation!
May you develop the wisdom insight through Vipassana!
